USPS Address Verification Service API

Using the USPS address verification service API is one of the best ways to validate addresses. The United States Postal Service (USPS) maintains a database of millions of addresses for the United States. This information is then available to developers who want to use it in their applications.

The USPS address verification service API is free of charge. It standardizes addresses and enriches them with additional metadata. It does not work with bulk addresses, but it can be used on an individual transaction basis.

It also has an easy to use interface. It requires just three lines of address data. It provides validated addresses and email addresses. It offers demographics and weather data. It is available to both large and small enterprises.

If the address has been incorrectly entered, USPS will attempt to correct it. It will then show a thumbs-up or thumbs-down message. The error element will be returned at the top level of the response. This may be a problem with the syntax of the address.

The address verification service API is based on XML format. This does not allow for creative solutions. It cannot keep up with the needs of today's applications.

The documentation of the USPS API is not great. There is not enough detail in the documentation to help you understand how the service works. The USPS does not provide SDKs for the API. They also have a restrictive Terms of Service. If you violate the Terms of Service, USPS will suspend or terminate your license.
